1934: Lynn Tait is born in Trinidad.
1937: Chris Blackwell, producer and founder of Island Records, is born in London, England. (some say b. June 20)

----: Miyazaki Kenji [Ska Flames; bass/guitar] is born.
1964: Millie Small accompanies Chris Blackwell to England and records Harry Edwards' "Don't You Know".
1988: Bob Marley & The Wailers' compilation album "Legend" [Island] is certified Gold and Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
1991: UB40 performs a huge concert in front of 30,000 fans at London's Finsbury Park.
This show was filmed and released as a videogram "A Family Affair Live In Concert" on Virgin.
1994: Ace Of Base's album "The Sign" [Arista] is certified Multi (4.0) Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).


June 23
1997: The last issue of the Japanese Reggae Magazine (No.59) is published. It features articles on Sly & Robbie.
2003: Singer Vic Taylor, Byron Lee and the Dragonaires lead singer, dies of cardiac arrest at Mercy Medical Centre in Rockville Centre, NY, at age 56.

1950: Derrick "Duckie" Simpson [Black Uhuru] is born.
1957: (some say 1959): Astro [UB40; toaster] (Terence Wilson) is born in Birmingham, England.
1991: Glen Augustus Holness aka Nitty Gritty passes away at the age of 34. (b. 1957)
He was shot dead outside Super Power record shop in Brooklyn, New York, USA.
1991: UB40's album "Labour Of Love II" [Virgin] is certified Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
1993: Bob Marley & The Wailers' compilation album "Legend" [Island] is certified Multi (4.0) Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
